Founder & Lead Speech Language Pathologist
Dr. Buddhima Samaraweera is a Speech-Language Pathologist, researcher, and founder of Words Speech Therapy. With over 15 years of clinical experience, she specialises in child language, early intervention, and supporting children with developmental concerns. Dr. Buddhima completed her PhD at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Her work integrates decolonial research approaches and indigenous principles to transform clinical practice. Dr Buddhima also serves as an extended faculty member of the University of Kelaniya, guiding the next generation of therapists. She is passionate about creating equitable, research-informed therapy spaces guided by Connection, Compassion and Care.

Ramesha is passionate and committed to helping children and adults express themselves with confidence. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences, specialising in Speech and Language Therapy (2020). In her 5 years of journey with Words Speech Therapy, she has helped many young children and school-aged kids overcome various speech and language challenges. Her personalised approach provides evidence-based plans for speech, language, and swallowing disorders. She values creativity, playfulness, and individual needs, empowering each child to build lasting communication skills while enjoying their unique communication journey.
Dilini Rajakaruna

Dilini holds a Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Kelaniya (2019) and has over 6 years of experience working with children and adults in private clinical settings. She specialises in assessing and treating a wide range of communication disorders, including stammering, language delays, autism, Down syndrome, and voice and swallowing difficulties. She has also completed therapeutic play practitioner training and uses play as a tool to support children’s emotional development. She works closely with individuals and their families to promote effective communication and meaningful skill development across different settings.

Piyumi is a skilled Speech and Language Pathologist with a degree from the University of Kelaniya, Faculty of Medicine. She is dedicated to advancing the field through both clinical practice and research. As a virtual presenter at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), she shared her research on the Psychometric Properties of the Frenchay Aphasia Screening Test Across Different Languages: A COSMIN Systematic Review. Her work focuses on improving assessment tools for individuals with aphasia, contributing to the global understanding of language disorders and rehabilitation. She is passionate about evidence-based practice and enhancing outcomes for people with communication difficulties.

Amanda is a SLMC registered Speech and Language Therapist with over 2 years of experience in assessing and treating communication and swallowing disorders. She holds a B.Sc. in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Kelaniya. She is passionate about helping individuals of all ages improve their communication skills. Her research on childhood stuttering was recognised at the 13th Oxford Dysfluency Conference, highlighting her expertise in the field. Drawing on her background in music and leadership, she integrates creative approaches into therapy, empowering individuals and fostering confidence and independence in communication.

She is a dedicated speech therapist working at Words Speech Therapy.
